An examination of natural elements and the human presence within it. Specifically, the tenuous grasp we people have on our place within the environment. 'Trilobites' references both a type of fossil and a series of short stories by Breece D'J Pancake. Both capture the idea of nature being a presence much larger and more permanent than anything else we can imagine. And how insignificant, 'like ants', we appear when faced with its grandiosity.

These images are photographs of small sets. The sets vary in their materials, using photo-collage, pastels, clay, and found objects to render the scene. The sets are destroyed once the photograph is taken.
